Description: In Spring 2020, a group of faculty met to discuss Joe Feldman’s text, Grading for Equity. The group discussed facets of online assessment design that could have negative impacts on students of color. Working from the CVC-OEI Course Design Rubric, the Peralta Equity Rubric, and concepts from Feldman’s text, each faculty member redesigned one assessment in their course with an aim at creating a more equitable assessment experience for their students.
In this presentation, we’ll discuss the impetus behind the project, the results of the assessment redesign, and the overall implications for online assessment in a variety of disciplines.
