Dr. Jodie Steeley has been working in higher education for 25 years. She earned her Ph.D. in 2012, contributing evidence-based research on the efficacy of digital tools, teaching, and learning. As an Instructor of History within the California Community College system, she became an early adopter of virtual teaching and learning, enabling her to teach fully online for one year when her son was born in 2003. Currently, she is the Director of Distance Education and Instructional Technology at Fresno City College in California. Her involvement in statewide efforts with the California Virtual College-Online Education Initiative (CVC-OEI) has provided an expansion of her breadth in the development of effective practices for equitable teaching and learning. She is also authoring a professional development series for the Charles A.Dana Foundation around creating effective learning experiences at a distance.
