Common Online Instructor Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

Thursday June 18th, 2020 at 1:20 pm - 2:10 pm

Presenter: Trinette Barrie, MEd, MS, MA

Description: Developing your course shell can be a daunting task, especially if you are new to creating a course in Canvas. This session geared for the novice-to-intermediate Canvas users will highlight key mistakes many new online instructors make and how to correct and avoid them as you begin or update course development in your Canvas shell. Topics will include Canvas content development, the art of communicating with students, strategies to successfully post live lecture video/feeds, and much more. The tools learned are meant to save the instructor time and heartache, so that you may spend more time building community and teaching your course content then making common mistakes. Participants will leave the session with key resources and links, a course development checklist, strategies to communicate with students, and key steps to lead students to online success.
