Gomez is responsible for improving the experience and outcomes for students at California’s 115 community colleges through technology-focused initiatives, and for delivering high-quality information technology services to the Chancellor’s Office, local colleges and students, partnering state agencies and stakeholders while also shepherding innovative practices. With nearly 20 years of state service, Gomez comes to the Chancellor’s Office from the California Department of Health Care Services where he served as the chief technology officer and chief information officer.
