Humanizing Your Online Course

@ONE
(9:00am – 4:00pm)

Online students who relate to their instructor as something more than a subject matter expert and feel as if they belong to a group, are more likely to be motivated, be satisfied with their learning, and succeed in achieving the course objectives (Picciano, 2002; Rovai & Barnum, 2003; Richardson & Swan, 2003). These are the effects of humanized online learning. This workshop will present both the theory and practice of humanizing, discuss why humanizing is especially important to our underserved students, and provide you with practical strategies and tools to implement in your online course.
