Kelly Ruppert received a B.S. in geology and a M.S. in geology with an emphasis in geomorphology from the University of California Riverside. To earn her Masters degree, she studied glaciers in the Himalaya Mountains to determine the timing of specific climatic changes in that region. Kelly worked for the USGS for over 10 years. Additionally, she has been teaching at the college level since 2000 at the University of California Riverside, Mt. San Jacinto Community College, Cal State Fullerton, and Coastline College. She also won an Emmy Award in Instructional Design in July of 2015 for her work on the development of online teaching materials.
