Over the last few years, California Community Colleges have gone through some incredibly difficult times with one natural disaster after another. American Public University has both the expertise and the curriculum to help the CCC maximize its systemwide potential to keep colleges open and students learning when things get tough. Pat James, Christopher Reynolds, and Vernon Smith will be presenting this session together. Pat will be sharing information that she has collected from all CCC’s, and Chris and Vernon will share the knowledge and curriculum that APUS has developed for disaster preparedness. The outcomes for this session include the participant’s ability to develop local strategies for managing a college under stress and curriculum for designing a certificate or degree program in the topic for their students.
• Identify strategies to maximize their institutional online resources in the event of a closure or suspension of service due to an emergency or disaster.
• Develop a plan for the design for career technical certificates and degrees in emergency services.
• Access open educational resources available from American Public University.
